SYMOS is a software developed by Socitec that allows for the analysis of the behavior of mechanical systems subjected to both linear and nonlinear shock and vibration.
From sizing during the bidding process to validating solutions for qualification, we leverage SYMOS to model and simulate complete systems in complex environments.
Capable of adapting performance levels and performing numerical simulations for all types of applications, even the most specific, SYMOS operates on multiple degrees of freedom to provide a comprehensive and detailed response.
I use the SYMOS software to simulate the behavior of applications under specific mechanical environmental conditions. The speed of the calculations allows us to optimize our prototypes and avoid costly tests for the client. It is rewarding to see with the client how my calculations align with the results of the qualification tests.

Why is it advantageous to use SYMOS?
One of the main advantages of SYMOS is that it supports and operates based on volumes and volumetric meshing, making it a more responsive and agile model compared to finite element analysis. It has been utilized in thousands of projects.
SYMOS integrates our entire range of isolators and all of our accumulated experience, enabling us to recommend the most suitable isolator for a specific need or to customize the isolator to further refine the damping target for the project.
What standards are supported by SYMOS?
All international standards in application areas such as military, railway, and transportation are incorporated into the SYMOS software. This allows us to offer high-performance damping solutions that are fully compliant with the requirements and specifics of each of these sectors. We integrate the particular specifications of our clients into SYMOS, including on-site measurements, to simulate solutions tailored to the specific use cases of our clients.
What are the different simulation levels of SYMOS?
SYMOS has 3 levels of simulation:
The first level is used to define and select the damping solution based on a specific need.
The second level allows for the active modeling and simulation of a complex system in a complex environment to validate the choice of isolator. It then enables sharing the residual accelerations and vibrations of the system in its environment once damped. This helps assess the effectiveness of energy absorption and qualify the solution with the client.
The third level, in conjunction with ANSYS, involves finite element analysis and allows working both on the shock and vibration protection provided by the isolators and on the behavior of the client’s system. It supports the client in dimensioning their own structure. This level qualifies, through simulation, that the proposed interface performs as expected, while also working on the client’s interface part.
